Paul and I (and Rylee) went to Charleston, South Carolina to celebrate our 16th wedding anniversary. Since most of the pictures are with Rylee, it looks like we were giving Rylee her own private vacation. Aunt Shelly was really nice (and was even still agreeable after having to spend the night in the Chicago airport) and watched the rest of the gang.
We took a narrated carriage ride through the city to learn about the many historical buildings. The next day, we took a narrated boat tour and heard details about the civil war, while viewing Fort Sumpter and the coastline.
We walked around the beautiful gardens at the Middleton Plantation.
This is Dreyton Hall, the only mansion along the Ashley River that wasn't destroyed by Union Soldiers. The house is completely void of furnishings and unrestored. It was like you were really stepping back in time.
