Celebration of Nations

Every year at our elementary school, they hold a "Celebration of Nations" event. Every class represents a different country. They all come out and parade in costumes that they've made, and then each grade does a dance from the region that they represent. This is one of the few activities that they let younger siblings attend, so I always make sure to come. This is the 6th year that our family has been doing this, and thankfully the school has learned to be more efficient -- it only went on for 1 1/2 hours this year.  At the end, seven 5th graders, representing the different character traits that they focus on throughout the year, "pass the torch of good character" on to a younger sibling. Mikaela was chosen to represent citizenship, and she passed the torch on to both Taegan and Brittlyn.
This is Taegan representing Peru, getting ready to march in with her class.  The boy next to her is August, our new neighbor and Taegan's new best friend (even though he has a twin sister.)
This is Mikaela representing Bolivia.  One of her best friends, Victoria, is next to her.

This is Brittlyn, representing Morocco, getting ready to do her African dance with the 2nd graders.

Here is the 53 second version of the day.
