In spite of my insistence that she not grow up, Rylee celebrated her 1st birthday on December 30th. Unfortunately, she was sick with a double ear infection and a respiratory virus, but she was a good sport during the festivities. Here is the latest on Rylee:
She's still a tiny thing -- only 17 lbs. 6 oz. Literally the day she turned one (and decided that she likes the taste of antibiotics), she refuses to eat mashed baby food or vegetables. She loves to shake her head no or spit food out of her mouth. The kids think it is so funny, which is not helping things!
Rylee loves to dance! She twists her arms and body back and forth at her hips. It is like this uncontrollable motion -- as soon as she hears music, even if it is just Taegan's piano practicing, the motion begins. Here's a video of her in Kelsye's room:
We have had a hard time deciding what color her eyes are. They've always been kind of a gray/blue. But, within the last few weeks, we think they are actually becoming brown. So, we may have one daughter without blue eyes.
She's not walking or standing yet, but she can ride all over the house on her little bike that she got for Christmas. She even scoots off of it and uses it as a walker instead of a bike.
Rylee is still the favorite member of our family, and she sometimes even prefers to go to her Dad or Kelsye instead of her Mom. (Maybe she is associating me as the person who wants her to eat vegetables and take naps?) She still loves me most of the time and enjoys giving kisses and hugs (while she pats you on the back.)
Here are some pictures from her birthday:
