Things I've Learned About Driving

After three days of Driver's Ed, Nathan now knows all about driving and offered me the following advice on our way home from school (which is only about a 10 minute drive:)

  • You should completely stop at the stop sign and pause to look around before continuing
  • Every 5-8 seconds, you should be checking your rearview mirrors
  • You should drive over speed bumps at 5 mph (I was going 15)
  • You should not drive through a yellow light unless it is impossible for you to stop
  • Unless you know the green light is "fresh," you should slow down slightly when approaching it
  • Don't swerve to go around a squirrel (or someone's pet) -- your life is more important to protect
Shelly received similar advice when she picked him up on the first day.  Aren't we so glad to have Nathan to remind us how to be good drivers? (Especially when he has yet to sit behind the wheel.)
