Taegan and the Kite String
Okay, so Paul got this great new opportunity at work that adds around 15 more people to his team. This means that he is having to travel a lot right now because these new team members are mostly located in New York and London. (We won't even mention that it is getting crunch time for his 2nd year CFA exams.) So, the day after we get home from our Outer Banks/Alabama Gym Meet trip (pictures to be posted later,) he leaves for New York. Our house is a total mess from all the luggage and junk brought into the house from our trip. I decided that I would start cleaning it up after the kids went to bed (since Paul was out of town.) I was helping Brittlyn practice the piano and was not paying attention to Taegan. Pretty soon I hear her screaming outside. I run outside, only to notice that she had taken out the roll of kite string from the vacation pile, unrolled it from the hallway upstairs, down the stairs, out the front door of our house, around the side and down the stairs to the back of the yard, back up the stairs to the driveway (catching it on various shrubbery along the way.) She then had wrapped it around her hands and feet so much that she was stuck sitting on our driveway, unable to move. She looked like she had been tied up by a burglar. I had to kind of laugh at her plight and was thinking about finding the camera, but then I noticed that one of her hands was turning blue because the string was so tight, so I quickly worked to untie her instead -- and I didn't want her to think this was a good activity (and thus worthy of a photo session.) I tried to be frugal and worked for a long time trying to untangle the string and roll it back up, but I finally gave up and just threw it away.
